At the beginning of the play, King Wenceslas is a mean, selfish and greedy king. All he cares about is money. He has a conversion at seeing a newborn baby born in his stables. After setting eyes on the baby he changes from his cruel, stone-hearted ways into a heart of flesh. He becomes a good, kind, unselfish, and generous king.
